Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Chastain are apparently leading the race to play Hillary Clinton in Rodham, a biopic about the younger years of the former First Lady and Senator.

The film is targetting a release to co-incide with the next Presidential election, in which the wife of former-POTUS Bill may well be a candidate.

The four-way race is exciting the film’s director, James Ponstoldt, who is quoted by the Independent as saying that he’s in an “enviable” position.

“They’re all wonderful actresses,” he said. “We’re very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We’re in an enviable position.”

He added: “Regardless of people’s political affiliation or how they feel about Hillary Clinton, you don’t find people who question the quality of her intelligence or her drive. I want a wonderful actress who could embody that.”

The film script, written by Young il-Kim, turned heads last year when it appeared on the Black List, a collection of strong Hollywood scripts that had not been recognised or picked up. When it was leaked by The Daily Beast and garnered attention for its racier scenes, he told the Telegraph that he is in fact a “boring prude”.

“I didn’t write 50 Shades of Rodham, as some news outlets are suggesting,” he joked. “I am a boring prude with little imagination.”

But that doesn’t mean he’s ruling out sex scenes altogether. “It’s an evolving process so I don’t know,” he said. “She was an attractive 26-year-old with an amazing future. And that’s our thematic focus.”

Stylist, style thyself. That’s the latest commandment from Riccardo Tisci, who had Carine Roitfeld style his fall campaign for Givenchy — and also appear in it with her daughter, Julia Restoin Roitfeld.

Tisci set an all-in-the-family theme for his latest advertising effort, also corralling actress Amanda Seyfried, the new face of Very Irresistible Givenchy perfume, to pose for the camera of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Spanish actor Quim Gutiérrez and models Mariano Ontañon and Dalianah Arekion rounded out the casting.

Tisci cited a “gypsy feeling” in the spots to echo the inspiration behind his hit collection and because his protagonists “are real gypsies in their own lives. They are never in one place. They travel the world.”

The women’s campaign is slated to break in mid-July on the hoarding for Givenchy’s forthcoming boutique at 36 Avenue Montaigne in Paris. It will follow in September issues of international Vogues. The men’s campaign will make its debut in L’Uomo Vogue.
