The R-rated project, described as “an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ with machine guns,” kicks off pre-production this June in Canada.

Her TV credits include “Veronica Mars,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” and “Big Love,” on which she plays Sarah Henrickson.
An unprecedented worldwide box office phenomenon, Mamma Mia! The Movie has already been proclaimed the fastest selling DVD of all time in the U.K. after first-day sales reached 1.6 million units, surpassing the previous decade-long record holder Titanic on November 24, 2008 by over a half-million units, or 50 percent of total sales.

With Watchmen safely premiered in both London and LA, and just minutes away from opening, director Zack Snyder has found time to cast his next film, Sucker Punch, and he’s lined up an all-female cast (so far) with Mamma Mia!’s Amanda Seyfried set for the lead role. She’ll be joined by Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone.
Set in the 1950s, Seyfried will play Babydoll, a girl confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who plans to have her lobotomised in five days. Fellow inmates would include Blondie (Hudgens*), Sweet Pea (Cornish), Rocket (Wood) and Amber (Stone).
To escape the pain, Babydoll retreats into a fantasy world (along with her companions) and there begins planning her escape before a “vile man” can rape her.
The fantasy world is described as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns” by Snyder, who co-wrote the script with Steve Shibuya. It will apparently include dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels, an interesting mix.
Talks are still in progress to lock in the cast for this action fantasy, and a shooting schedule is still being worked out. We’ll keep you up to date as we learn more.
